Description

The transition from operating as a distribution network operator to distribution system operator enables DERs to provide services & value to the distribution grid in a decentralized manner. As more energy is generated locally and from renewable sources, it is imperative to optimize DER assets within these networks to create smarter, cost-effective, and sustainable electricity distribution grids.

This session will share key findings from a demonstration project at Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, that has deployed Opus One’s GridOS® Transactive Energy Management System (TEMS) software to optimize 10,000 DERs in the lab and ~100 customer owned DERs in SCE’s service territory.

Attend this session and learn:

  • Lessons learned through optimizing DERs to meet grid & market needs
  • How to enable & provision DER services for the utility, ISO and the customer by the integration of a DSO platform into the distribution system infrastructure
  • Day-ahead and intra-day pricing signals for indirect control of customer owned DERs to meet objective functions
