Nathan Shannon is the Deputy Director of the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative. In this role, he is responsible for advancing a consumer-friendly, consumer-safe smart grid through research and education. During his tenure, SECC has grown to over 150 members and produced many pieces of foundational consumer-focused research on topics like electric vehicles, the smart grid, utility programs & services, renewable energy and more. Nathan also leads member recruitment and engagement and routinely presents SECC research at major industry conferences and policy workshops. In his previous role as Director of Operations and Major Gifts Officer at Athens Land Trust, he had a focus on policy and sustainability through his work with land conservation and carbon credits. He also gained extensive knowledge in the realm of non-profit development and capacity building. Nathan has a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Georgia and a background in financial management.
