UAI Member Lunch & Roundtables

We invite all Utility Analytics Institute members to join  us for lunch and the opportunity to participate in UAI working group topic round table discussions , including grid operations analytics, customer analytics, asset optimization & performance management, analytics architecture & technology, natural gas analytics, and advanced analytics. .  These round table discussions will provide  a more personal and interactive setting for exploring key analytics strategies and challenges facing our UAI membership base.

Grid Operations Analytics
Discussions might include:

  • What does “Utility of the Future” mean at your utility? How is it being implemented?
  • How is your utility utilizing real-time analytics? What pain points has it helped you address?
  • How are you using analytics for outage management? What technology/platforms are you using for outage management analytics? How do you gauge/determine the success of your outage management analytics efforts?

Customer Analytics
Discussions might include:

  • How is your utility shaping the customer experience? What have the impacts been? Which insights have offered the most value
  • How have analytics affected/shaped your utility’s load forecasting efforts? How have renewables/DERs affected these efforts? How are you using analytics to shape energy-efficiency initiatives? What lessons have you learned with analytics regarding consumer perceptions of distributed energy resources?
  • What technology/platform are you using for your customer segmentation efforts? How granular are your segmentation efforts/what type of data are you collecting on each customer and how are you using it? What is the one thing you would do differently today if you had this customer data tracking to start over?

Analytics Optimization & Performance Management
Discussions might include:

  • What predictive/prescriptive data models have you found most effective in extending asset life, maintaining/improving system reliability, and reducing equipment failures and emergent/emergency work? What are the most valuable insights you have uncovered? How have these insights affected the bottom line?
  • What are the most valuable organizational efficiencies you have discovered? How have these efficiencies translated to customers?
  • What types of metrics projects have you been part of? What type of value did you see derived from these insights? How were the insights ultimately applied? If you had any advice for an organization considering metrics visualization, what would it be?

Analytics Architecture & Technology
Discussions might include:

  • What types of technology/platforms are you using? What are the pros and cons you have experienced? How have you applied the results to your business and the bottom line? What are key factors you look at when selecting a technology or platform?
  • What have you found to be the biggest benefit of your analytics technology investments? What are they and why? How have you gotten buy-in from the various stakeholders on the utility side? How have you gotten buy-in from the various stakeholders on the customer side?
  • If you could choose only one technology to make an investment in, what would it be and why?

Natural Gas Analytics
Discussions might include:

  • How is your organization using predictive maintenance and what have the results been? What has been the biggest impact, both tangible and intangible?
  • How have analytics affected/shaped your utility’s load forecasting efforts? How have renewables/DERs affected these efforts?
  • What lessons have you learned from analytics across the organization?

Advanced Analytics
Discussions might include:

  • How is your organization using AI, including machine learning, deep learning and neural networks? What platforms/technology are you using and what are the pros and cons?
  • What do you see as being the relationship of advanced analytics to AI?
  • What does the future of AI look like in the utility industry? What is the future of analytics-driven automation?

* This event is open to UAI members only. You must be pre-registered to attend.
